Dechant Construction Ltd.
Started by Alphonse Dechant in 1976, Dechant Construction Ltd. is an independent provider of highway, water & sewer and oilfield construction. Since Alphonse’s retirement the company has been run by his sons and a management team that has continued the quality and client expectations that Alphonse started. Operating across northern Alberta and north-eastern British Columbia, we have become one of the largest heavy civil construction contractors in these areas.
From small roadway projects to large heavy civil sites and highway construction, Dechant Construction Ltd. provides the service and the professionalism that the industry demands. We pride ourselves in our ability to provide cost-effective and personal service to all our customers, regardless of project size.
Safety is the First Item of Business
Dechant Construction maintains a Certificate Of Recognition (COR) with both the ACSA and Worksafe BC.
We continue to work at maintaining a safe work environment which is reflected in good grades across all third party safety management evaluation programs - ISNetworld, Comply Works and CanQual.
WHAT WE DO
Dechant Construction has been providing Towns, Municipalities, Cities, Alberta Transportation and the Government of British Columbia with heavy civil services for over three decades. We specialize in large transportation projects such as twinning and widening highways, service road builds and subdivision road development. As a full phase contractor we manage Traffic Accommodation and Environmental Construction Operation plans as well as Sedimentation Avoidance Strategies. Recognized as a leader - we continue to work closely with paving and asphalt companies to provide turnkey services to our clients.
We were founded in oil field development. With much of the early development in North western Alberta on the back of our company we have maintained through much of our history the same clients year after year after year. We are safe, efficient and committed to owner schedules. Our company has developed thousands of kilometres of oil field roads, thousands of leases and opened thousands of kilometres of winter access. We have equal experience in conventional oil, shale gas development and oil sands projects.
Our Underground Utilities division was established over 15 years ago and has garnered extensive experience working on small million dollar projects to underground jobs in excess of $15MM that take many years to complete. We specialize in subdivision development and our clients continue to use us time and time again. Our underground utilities division are also responsible for culvert, bridge file and pipe installs throughout our company.
Some of our most successful civil and oil field projects have been in partnership with First Nation groups. Our focus in each of these partnerships is slightly different and normally defined by our partners requirements. Recent successes have been in adding capacity to First Nation run projects, managing large oil field and clearing projects alongside our partners as well providing in the field training and meaningful work to First Nation community members. We respect the relationship and work with Chief and Council, Nation leadership and community members in developing long term mutually beneficial business arrangements that work for everyone.
